There are many versions of the SD2IEC. This is why we chose to offer this version:

No need for a serial cable: The sd2iec is connected directly to the serial port (and the cassette port)
No need for a power cable: The sd2iec takes the power from the cassette port
Serial port still available: other drives can still be attached - to the sd2iec
Bases on atmega 1264: the sd2iec can be updated through software updates
high manufacturing quality: this sd2iec is robust and was tested during production
solid design: the SD2IEC sits firmly right behind the C64 and can be accessed comfortably

Despite all of these advantages, we would like to point out that an sd2iec is generally less compatible in comparison to a 1541 Ultimate cartridge as it does not contain a full drive emulation. More information on the 1541 Ultimate can be found here.
