There are many versions of the SD2IEC. This is why we chose to offer this version:

No need for a serial cable: The sd2iec is connected directly to the serial port (and the cassette port)
No need for a power cable: The sd2iec takes the power from the cassette port
Serial port still available: other drives can still be attached - to the sd2iec
Bases on atmega 1284: the sd2iec can be updated through software updates
high manufacturing quality: this sd2iec is robust and was tested during production
solid design: the SD2IEC sits firmly right behind the C64 and can be accessed comfortably

Despite all of these advantages, we would like to mention that an sd2iec is a little less compatible in comparison to a 1541 Ultimate cartridge when it comes to multiload programs. More information on the 1541 Ultimate can be found here.

Review:

Das "SD2IEC ohne Kabel" ist sehr schön und robust verarbeitet. Es sitzt fest am Heck des C64 und kann schnell und ohne Schrauben geöffnet werden. Dies kann nötig sein um an die Dip-Schalter im Innern zu kommen, an denen die device-Nummer geändert wird.
Es arbeitet problemlos mit einem echten Floppy-Laufwerk zusammen und auch mein TFC III - Modul kann auf die SD-Karte zugreifen, wodurch sich die Zugriffsgeschwindigkeit extrem erhöht.

Mir hätte eine kleine Bedienungsanleitung sehr gefallen, welche auf die Dip-Schalter im Innern des SD2IEC erklärend verweist und auch einen kleinen Überblick über verfügbare Filebrowser für das Gerät aufzeigt. Es ist lediglich ein kleiner "Prospekt" dabei, der die verschiedenen Bauarten des SD2IEC abgebildet hat und erklärt wie diese am C64 angeschlossen werden.

Für mich ein Top-Produkt und für jeden C64-user zu empfehlen.
