MW ULTRA is a gem of a game and features action, adventure and other game elements in a skilled blend of technical perfection. It received a score rating of 97% from Retro Gamer Nation (Sam's Journey scored 98%), won the Game of the Year award 2020 from IndieRetroNews.

In a future world, where the sun no longer shines, Ian wastes his time growing out his hair, playing guitar and drinking beer. But his world comes crashing down after watching his best friend fall to his death while out together on a burglary job. Little does Ian realise that this event is about to trigger something lying dormant within him as his lethal past starts to come alive.

Take control of Ian in this epic interactive action adventure game as he unravels a conspiracy taking place around him and inside his mind. Ian will have to use his wits and his skills to survive against street gangs, highly trained soldiers, wild animals, robot drones and much more as you navigate your way though many different environments in order to uncover the truth to who he really is.

MW ULTRA is a reboot of the original Metal Warrior game released in 1999. The game retells the original story in an expanded setting with new features:

Blown away!
Is the best way to descriebe my experience with this game. After finishing Steel Ranger, this was a natural “next game” to check out. I still can’t believe that you are playing this on a stock c64. Story, gameplay, graphichs and sound 10/10.

Review:

This is the best game of 2020 for C64 - and one of the best games ever made for the C64.

If you're familiar with the Metal Warrior series, you'll notice there have a number of improvements in the controls, for instance pressing down and fire will shoot horizontally whilst ducking instead of firing downwards. However if you're not familiar, the action is based on events from the 1st Metal Warrior game, so you don't have to have played the first 4 games to enjoy this one.

I recommend this game to everyone - even if you don't own a C64. Get the digital edition and play it on whatever devices you own.

Review:

"Wow" should describe best what I felt playing the first 30mn of this remake.
Everything I liked about the original, but with more content, and a lot more polish.
The game looks nicer, sounds better. and the new engine is miles ahead in terms of playability.
As usual with Protovision, you can expect high standard in artwork and packaging.

I usually never write reviews, but this game made me jump right out of my cave to warn the outside world : this game will eat your free time, and you'll still ask for more !
