About Protovision

Protovision was founded by Malte Mundt and Stefan Gutsch in late 1996. Over the years, more and more artists joined us from all over the world. Today, we not only sell our own homebrew games, but also help other talented developers by offering a distribution channel for their games. Furthermore we offer the latest hardware devices, cables, and other accessories for the breadbox and its fans.

Why did you join Protovision: I always wanted to make video games but since I'm not a great coder I was trying my wings with game art in my 20s. I often fantasize about porting modern games and gameplay concepts to old platforms, and create mock images of demade titles to illustrate that often times good game ideas don't really require a powerful hardware to work with. I like the C64 style of graphics because I have a history with the platform and I like to work with it's limitations. Protovision gave me an opportunity to put my work to use in actual video games, which is great!
