There are many versions of the SD2IEC. This is why we chose to offer this version:

No need for a serial cable: The sd2iec is connected directly to the serial port (and the cassette port)
No need for a power cable: The sd2iec takes the power from the cassette port
Serial port still available: other drives can still be attached - to the sd2iec
Bases on atmega 1284: the sd2iec can be updated through software updates
high manufacturing quality: this sd2iec is robust and was tested during production
solid design: the SD2IEC sits firmly right behind the C64 and can be accessed comfortably

Despite all of these advantages, we would like to mention that an sd2iec is a little less compatible in comparison to a 1541 Ultimate cartridge when it comes to multiload programs. More information on the 1541 Ultimate can be found here.
